Craving this? Eat THIS!

I was having the biggest craving for toast with butter the other day. I could just taste the crunch of a freshly warmed bread with fluffy insides, drenched in that melted buttery delight. But(!) before I hit the kitchen and pressed *toast* I asked myself why am I craving this? Great question. So I did the only thing I knew to do at that moment: I googled “craving toast with butter” and of course a million results came up to satisfy my curiosity. Throughout my googling I learned that a craving is our brain/bodies way of telling us that we are deficient of a certain nutrient. It’s amazing that our body can tell us what nutrients we need through cravings. However, it is important to have our brains connect the right cravings to the food that will actually give us that nutrient and also be beneficial to our health.

When I was craving that buttery piece of toast my body was telling me that I was lacking nitrogen. So I looked for alternative sources of nitrogen which happens to be in fish, meat, nuts and beans.

Here’s a list of potential cravings, what that craving is telling you and where you can source that nutrient from to satisfy your craving.
